The Rave Diet

rave diet
Anyone who has spent a significant amount of time at rave parties will understand the humor of this post. To the uninitiated, it may seem like a bit of nonsensical gibberish, and for that I apologize.

The Rave Diet

Bottled water
Lollipops of assorted shapes and sizes (by the ton)
Fun Dip!
Lip gloss of any stranger who happens to wander within arms reach (who, for the moment, I perceive I have an amazing spiritual connection with)
Bottled water
Baked goods of unknown origin
Bottled water
The essential slice of pizza at 7 am on the drive home
Tap water
Sleep

Dynamite Rave by Naoki

dynamite rave
Personally, I think that "Dynamite Rave" by artist Naoki is an anthem for ravers all over the world. I'll post some lyrics below and you can decide for yourself.

Dynamite rave!

Come on everybody!
And get on the floor, yeah

Techno, rave
It's time to make a stand
N pave the way some might say
Let it go, stay with the flow
Stay on beat, move your feet
On concrete
Or on the dance floor
You want more than I'll give you more
If it's too hardcore
Let me know
I stop the show
Then bring it back to be exact
At 12 o'clock rock the spot
It's too damn hot
They told me so
DYNAMITE RAVE
It's on the down low
Use your inner glow
To make a move shown prove
The man with the lisp
Sounds so crisp
When you can see me on TV
On the radio
Hear me blow

I don't wanna give up
We're gonna have a party
Have a really great time
Yeah! Yeah! Just feel the beat
Listen to the music and feel that beat

I Use Rave Girl Flash Animation to Proclaim My Status as a Raver

rave girl flash
If you are like me and want to proclaim your love of rave culture to anyone and everyone that you come into contact with, especially on the internet, then you know how important it is to establish yourself as a serious raver right of the bat. My preferred method for letting people know that I love the rave lifestyle is somewhat subtle, but I think it is quite effective.

I downloaded a rave girl flash animation and include it in my email signature, use it as a buddy icon on instant messaging programs, and on my MySpace page. While it may not scream I'm crazy about raving! it gets the point across without being overbearing.

Jimmy Rave, The Raver's Wrestler

jimmy rave
James Guffey, who was born on December 8, 1982, is a professional wrestler who is more notoriously known by his ring name, Jimmy Rave. He is probably known best for his time spent on the independent circuit, mostly with Ring of Honor Wrestling. Jimmy Rave is currently under contract with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling.

Jimmy Rave was trained by the famous wrestler Murder One before he debuted in 1999 as the masked wrestler Mr. XTC. You can see how his names have continually referenced rave culture up to this point.

On a funny note - Jimmy Rave has gained publicity for getting excessive heat from Ring of Honor fans while working as a heel (bad guy). In Ring of Honor, it was once common practice for fans to throw streamers on the wrestlers that they supported. Jimmy Rave, however, had the unfortunate problem of fans throwing rolls of toilet paper at him. Because of Jimmy Rave, Ring of Honor in November of 2006 that throwing toilet paper is banned from all Ring of Honor events.

Rave Music Downloads Good for Artists and Fans

rave music downloads
With new rave music coming from all parts of the globe, finding the latest and greatest rave mixes is no easy feat. This is especially true considering that the evolution of rave music moves at such a blindingly fast pace that it requires a good amount of energy to keep up with.

With advances in new rave music so hard to follow, the preferred method of disseminating new beats has been through rave music downloads from the internet. Many of the top rave artists provide their fans with free versions of their newest songs. Not only is this good for the fans, it also allows artists to get feedback on new beats before releasing them commercially.

Blade Rave Scene A Great Choice

blade rave
The Blade rave fight scene is probably the most famous rave scene featured in a movie recently. The high energy setting of a rave is the perfect place for a super charged vampire fight and director Stephen Norrington made an inspired decision by choosing to shoot the fight scene during a blood rave.

The music played during the fight is none other than the Chemical Brothers Blood Rave, which is more than fitting. The total body count in the movie is listed as 88 on the Internet Movie Database, and many of those can be attributed to the rave scene near the beginning of the movie.

Nu Rave the "Wave" of the Future

nu rave
Nu Rave is a term that has been applied to several different types of music that fuse elements of electronic, new wave beats, disco music, rock and roll, independent music, techno, hip-house, and electronic break-beat. Nu Rave does not so much define a style of music as it describes the free mixing of styles that has been developing in cities around the globe.

The music publication NME is responsible for making the term Nu Rave popular between 2006 and 2007. The Nu Rave genre has been heralded as the new incarnation of rave music while at the same time vilified as a corruption of new wave beats.

Buddy Holly Rave On Before Modern Raves

buddy holly rave on
Before there were raves in warehouses and in the underground partying scene, there was Buddy Holly and his ballad, Rave On. The song is not only beautiful and emotive, but it speaks to the hearts of ravers even today even though it does not have a techno beat. Here are some of the lyrics:

The little things you say and do
Make me want to be with you
rave on - it's a crazy feeling and
I know it's got me reeling
when you say I love you - rave on
The way you dance and hold me tight
the way you kiss and say goodnight
rave on - it's a crazy feeling and
I know it's got me reeling
when you say I love you - rave on
Well, rave on - its a crazy feeling
and I know - its got me reeling
I'm so glad - that you're revealing your love for me
rave on - rave on and tell me

Blood Rave by The Crystal Method

blood rave
One of my favorite rave songs of the past few years has got to be the Crystal Method's Blood Rave. The beat will lift you up off the dance floor as if some unseen force is picking you up to the heavens and the lyrics resonate with meaning and raw, unbridled power. For those that have not heard it, or those that have not had the chance to listen carefully, here is a sample of the lyrics:

Start the dance of mass destruction!
All the world is one dancehall
End of human evolution
DJs deaf - all exits are closed
Track by track, you have no choice
Blood rave chaos over the world
Last days, last race, twilight ages
Welcome all on blood rave show
